Bharti’s* eyes light up as she looks up her schoolbook. We ask her what she wants to be when she grows up. “Doctor!”, she says excitedly. This 8-year old girl living on the outskirts of Kolkata loves learning and going to school but her family can barely make ends meet, let alone dare to dream of higher education for the children. Her father is a daily wage labourer, an  her mother is a domestic helper for a family in the city, just 3 kms from the village. They work tirelessly to provide for the family but their combined income falls short of meeting the family's basic needs.

Bharati’s story is not unique—there are countless children like her who’s potential and dreams remain unfulfilled due to poverty and absence of adequate support systems. However, by extending a helping hand, you can play a pivotal role in transforming the lives of children like Bharti.
