HAC Foundation believes in the transformative role that children play in building up their communities. We are working with children and communities in Kulberia, a hamlet on the outskirts of Kolkata, India. The people here belong to low income groups and depend mostly on daily wage labour, domestic work, fishery and agriculture for their survival.

But Kulberia isn't exactly a hotspot. No local transport means it's a bit off the map for the government and private agencies. This is why we are  promoting the all-around growth of the children through after-school coaching centers. It's not just books and pencils – we’re building a safe and child-friendly space where they can do their homework, play games, and have fun exploring their creative interests.

Besides children, we work closely with parents and village leaders to equip them with parenting and livelihood skills so that they are better able to care for their children. Young people take part in trainings to level up their computer and language skills too!
